ACT I: The Personal
I am Aries, The Ram’s Flames
The First Fire Sign, Of Personal Action
The key of Aries is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see a Ram, wreathed in flames, tearing through the dawn sky like a meteorite. Bold and ablaze the Ram embodies our incarnation as an individual personified self and announces our arrival into the story of our lives. With it a sense of impulse and expression, with both an element of novice and novelty.
You hold a torch aloft, illuminating what it is to be you, the many selves that have begun each new chapter of your story.
The Ram inspires us to ignite action and stand up for ourselves and others, that we may be individuals together. Instigating great cycles of beginning, born from vital ends. We watch as the flaming Ram plunges from the dawn sky into the deep fertile earth, in which it sleeps and from whose rich dreaming the Ram is reborn as a Bull.
Announced, aflame, an individual forged by name.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Taurus key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign.
I experience Taurus , The Bull’s Garden
The First Earth Sign, Of Personal Experience
The key of Taurus is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see a Bull awaken inside a walled garden in the physical realm of the senses: Sight, Sound, Smell, Taste and Touch. It slowly gets to its feet, stirred by its lust for the flavours of experience that grow in its garden, and begins to sate it’s needs for food, sex, shelter and sleep. Content with its lot, it feels safe and stable.
You feel your feet in the warm grass, the lusts you have lived flood your chest, what it is to be hungry and to eat food, what it is to be full and to rest, what it has been to be asleep and to awaken day dreamed desires into full bodied being.
The Bull inspires us to be deeply present in our physicality, to navigate an adoration of nature’s world of sensations, through the body we wear, that holds us here. Eating the food of this dream that we may remain dreamers, dreaming. Who laugh and weep and grow through a billion flavours of being. As the day reaches its height the bull takes a nap, and from its body's dreaming mind, it gives birth to two human twins, as silver as the stars.
Home, hearth, trust, a garden throne to full flavoured bodied lust.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Gemini zodiac key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign.
I think Gemini, The Twins Mirrored Forest
The First Air Sign, Of Personal Thought
The key of Gemini is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
… and see two silver twins holding hands as they leave the Bull’s garden and enter a glade in a mirrored forest. There they skip across the surface of a pool of shimmering mercury. Swapping places as they spin in circles. One in light and one in shade, a dance of dappled difference. In constant dialogue as they choreograph conversation with their racing minds. The twins notice through the discussion of difference that there is I and the other, up and down, front and back, beginnings and ends, likes and dislikes.
You feel the silver sword of choices that divide the decisions you have made and are yet to make, in the court of your mind. The words you can’t take back and those that remain unspoken dance like silver spectres in the corners of your mind.
The Twins Mirrored Forest inspires us to think and communicate. To explore and express our differences towards the argumentative acquisition of knowledge. From the clarity that the twins find together, the mirrored forest morphs into the ultraviolet unity of a meadow at dusk.
Either or, and or, neither, never, ever thus.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The next Cancer key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I feel Cancer, The Hearts Songs
The First Water Sign, Of Personal Emotion
The key of Cancer is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
… and see the Twins in a dusk meadow as they find themselves amongst a family of feelings. Bubbling with emotion they reach out to each other in a loving embrace. Each sheds a tear, that seeds an ancestral spring, that forms a family well. From whose watery depths of emotion, they are nurtured by knowing, as they feel their way through relationships with kith and kin, friend and foe. They and theirs share a meal of soul food, reflecting on their days, years and lives, by swapping heart songs around a campfire.
You feel your Family with you now, through presence, absence, joy and sorrow alike. Those to whom you have been bonded through blood or chosen as your own and those who you got so close to you could never see again.
The Heart’s Songs inspire us to feel deeply, to experience and express a knowing that transcends knowledge. From the heart of the campfire whose flames enliven our stories and whose embers embody our incarnations, the soul is inspired to be recast as a Lion, an individual amongst others. Set to play the dynamic part they must, if tales of growth are to be retold.
A gushing, a deepening, a weeping at the dimpsy hour, under the gloaming emerald arbours of Eden's dusk.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Leo zodiac key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
ACT II: The Collective
I act Leo, The Lions Pride
The Second Fire Sign, Of Collective Action
The key of Leo is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see the Lion, standing at the centre of its pride. The symbol of its Kind, majestic and protective of those it holds dear. By day it dances drama and justice through the solar theatre of the world and by night it dreams of the limelight through which it could enact great change. The Lion inspires us to bravely play our part and understand that we must, if the story of our life is to be meaningful, for us and our others.
You wonder as to your role in this theatre of life. Courageously you act your part as your tale, as old as time, unfolds again, anew. Your particular individuality and agency is performed into being on the world stage, amongst a luminous cast of billions.
After their part has been played the Lion steps back into the wings of the stage, observing with child's eyes the mythic drama’s nature unfold. They fall asleep in the cool shade of the wings and dream of the forest. Amongst the patterns and cycles that orchestrate the drama the dreaming lion is reborn as Mother Earth’s child, awakening to learn from the scenes and sequences of our multifaceted world.
The spotlight, the rigging, the wings, all things must play their part before curtains close.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Virgo key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I observe Virgo, The Virgin Forest
The Second Earth Sign, Of Collective Experience
The key of Virgo is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes….
….and see a child born from our Mother Earth. As they grow they walk the virgin forest, eating mushrooms and collecting seeds, learning from the trees and the seasons. As they age they plant those seeds in the shadow of their elders, that they may one day replace them. The virgin Forest teaches us to step back, so that we may see not only the leaves and the trees, but their roots in the seasons, and souls in the winds that move them. Revealing the subtle currents and connections, that maintain balance, by orchestrating the cosmic opera of our ever changing world.
You take a pause to observe your memories and feel their unfolding as their meanings weave glowing ivy through the library of your life.
Each evening they lay their heads on the earth now silvered by age, and fall asleep into death’s long night. In whose deep sleep they dream of embodying this balance, by re-entering the world and its wonders. One dawning morning on being born from a fretful dream, Mother Earth’s child decides to leave the chaotic fullness of the forest, wading instead into a broad lake with reflective hopes towards embodying the ideal of balance.
Planting seeds between stars that stars may see them and be brighter for it and all. Fishing for invisible insights by the weaving of a web.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The next Libra key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I balance Libra, The Horizon’s Scales
The Second Air Sign, Collective Thought
The key of Libra is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes….
…and see a person standing waist deep in a lake of rich black water peppered with sparkling stars under a bright blue sky. In their hands they hold a gleaming pair of silver scales against the horizon. Before holding them aloft, hopeful of the heights of humanities ideals, yet unaware that the lake must now rise to meet them, if the shadow goes unexamined. For all things belong to balance.
You think of the difference between compromise and compromising yourself, of needs and desires, of those relationships who use you for balance, yet remain unbalanced. You wish and wonder a eutopia of ‘if only’ into being on the horizon, yet suffer its lack
The scales inspire us to find justice and beauty, but in this quest for the ideal we can lose sight of the real. Forcing us to dive into the shadow to become truly balanced, lest it swallow us whole.
A knife edge traversed on tiptoes, a sword song of choices, a shadow full of gold
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Scorpio key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I transform Scorpio, The Scorpions Stars
The Second Water Sign, Collective Emotion
The key of Scorpio is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
….and see a Scorpion in a desert glossed by blue-black night, guarding an entrance to the underworld. Around it the sands are pebbled with dew born of the cool air, each bead mirroring a star above it. Around the entrance lay the skeletons of all of the selves the Scorpion has shed through its many births, deaths and rebirths through an exploration of its whole nature. The Scorpion carries its children on its back, secret and safe in the shadow of its sting. It observes the starry truth in the halls of heaven, that until now, have been obscured by the theatre of the sun. The scorpion teaches us to face our shadows and reclaim our metamorphic capacity and hidden potential obscured by the light.
You briefly touch your shadow, and open to the idea of treading lightly, through your regrets and sorrows, that you may find the stars amongst them, and turn fear and woe into the soil in which a soul grows.
The scorpion’s stars teach us to face, accept and integrate our secrets and sorries, that we may compassionately become whole people, energised and emboldened living bravely beyond denial. In the Scorpions dreaming we collect the stars strewn across the night. They guide us as we ascend, reborn as a flaming Centaur, racing back to the sunlit world towards a journey of great purpose. The Scorpion that is expanded through an exploration of its whole nature emerges reborn in Sagittarius as the Centaur. With the freedom granted by having faced its shadow, energised and enlivened, they begin their spiritual searching quest toward lucid completion.
The scorpion alone sees the stars' spiral dance ghostwrite our lives.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Sagittarius zodiac key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
ACT III: The Quest
I begin Sagittarius, The Centaurs Arrow
The Third Fire Sign, The Quest To Become
The key of Sagittarius is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see a Centaur, half person half horse, standing in a rolling morning meadow, aiming its bow and arrow at something that is moving illusively through the mist at the base of a mountain. Others cannot see it, but it knows in the heat of its heart it is there. It lets loose its arrow with the passions of the quest and bolts boldly into a sprint in search of that which it seeks.
You dare not forget those impulses that led you astray as you remember every bold beginning you ever made and all those yet to come courageously from the heat of your heart.
The Centaurs Arrow inspires us to summon the passion to begin. To believe in that which lies beyond us that we may race into the arms of who we are here to become. At the base of the mountain we discover our life's work and get some rest before we begin. From deep exhaustion the centaur is reborn as a sturdy and lithe Goat, ready to take its task, measured step by step, leap by leap, towards the goals it seeks.
The rippling muscles of a galloping mare bolt for all freedom towards truths’ morning.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Capricorn key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I work Capricorn ,The Goats Ladder
The Third Earth Sign, The Quest To Build
The key of Capricorn is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see a Goat beginning its ascent up a mountain that is a mere ladder for its kind. It pays no mind to the steep walls, the deathly fall and the lofty peak, but instead is focused on the journey. Committed and steady, step by step it achieves its goals. The Goat does the work, creating an architecture of ascent. Paving an industrious trajectory towards their goal, whilst being present and dedicated to their journey.
You think of all the small steps that added up to bring you here. The institutions, ideologies and architectures that help you up and hem you in. You hone your plan, lest you be honed by others.
The Goats quest teaches us to progress one step at a time and to know that our lives are journeys, not destinations. At the top of the Mountain the Goat finds a rainbowed lake. To quench its thirst and rest its body it drinks from the psychedelic waters. Before a well earned sleep, in which it dreams of a crystal city built atop the lake from which it awakens, reborn as the water bearer.
Rung by rung, step by step, piece by piece, a building born of a life's work.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Aquarius key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
I Metamorphose Aquarius, The Rainbow Lake
The Third Air Sign, The Quest To Dissolve
The key of Aquarius is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see a crystal city built upon the rainbow waters of a mountain lake. The architecture of the old stands in the prismatic flux of change. Each day the water bearer washes the struts keeping the city aloft. One by one they dissolve those supports that aid those ideas that have outlived their purpose, which collapse under their own weight, to be repurposed and reformed into revolutionary blueprints for revolution. Challenges are questioned, faced and released, making vital space for the new.
You feel the weight of inherited structures that cease to change, as obstacles to freedom, yet you know they must, lest our insights suffer on, unheard and unseen.
The rainbow lake teaches us to resolve and reform our thinking and doing, towards fresher ways of seeing and being, beyond the maze of our habits and histories. At the end of the day the Water Bearer too dissolves into the lakes dreaming and is reborn as two twinned fish. Naked slick as silver, licked with iridescence, born from the prismatic waters of change that swim like a song towards the ocean of all.
Only in the flux of revolution, may brand new days be dawned.
A door is traced in mid air with the tip of a finger. The Pisces key is placed into an invisible lock and turned as the performer walks through the door into the next sign
We are Pisces, The Vast Ocean
The Third Water Sign, The Quests End in Song
The key of Pisces is held aloft
I Atom, invite you to close your eyes…
…and see two prismatic fish, swimming naked as mirrors through the many storms and stills of the waters. Having travelled the whole world of our story they have felt many things, more than the chapters of their lives. They spell poetry in the silvan wake of their wonder, which sings for and sums up the whole story.
You sit with your story, the one you have authored, and you feel the bright edge of its unfolding verse, in the fullness of this endless moment, whose flux you call home and hearse.
The vast ocean inspires us to appreciate the beginning and ending of all stories and those of others and our own. In the deep waters of an ocean of intelligence the fish dream of a Ram, aflame, born from the dawn sky, recast once more as the start of all stories that sends ripples through the waters.
We came with nothing, and so we leave, yet full of lessons learned, returning.
